These photos are incredible! Whatever you’re doing seems to working to get those shots.

These kinds of posts are the reason I’ve become a bit annoying at work when someone asks me “what animal do I like?” Owls are da bomb. Keep it up!

*edit. I assume you’re not the not the photographer. Thanks for sharing and you can tell them “Lemmy thinks you’re pretty good”

saddlebag ,

I’m sure we could all manage to read 1 or 2 sources and comprehend them in relation to your argument. Don’t feel the need to dumb it down for us morons

saddlebag ,

I'm all for reducing the size of webpages with garbage bloat but a little CSS for readability on this site would have gone a long way.

Ps. thanks for sauce

saddlebag OP ,

@FlyingSquid summon?

*edit: that let me search their comment history and I found it. Holy shit they post a lot. I thought maybe it’d be like 50 comments deep. Probably closer to 500. Incredible

saddlebag ,

Several comments making the some gun manufacturer analogy didn’t bother to read 3 sentences from article.

Lemmings showing their Redditage (Reddit heritage)

saddlebag ,

Its already possible to build manually on linux and there's a tracking issue.

*edit. same as the other post

I spent 5 seconds too long looking for a haiku

Switched from Manjaro to Fedora after being told Manjaro is "a bad distro" by many. Looking for a telnet terminal such as Syncterm to run on rpm or flatpak. ( lemmy.zip )

Welp, I made a similar thread yesterday regarding Manjaro but I decided to swap to Fedora as my daily driver for stability purposes. Unfortunately since fedora is yet another non Debian distro I need help finding a Syncterm replacement....

saddlebag ,

I really wanted to love Endeavour. I run it for about 2 days then it broke when systemd updated, literally couldn’t get past bios (thread here for the interested reader). The combination of Dracut and Systemd isn’t as stable as on arch. And then the recovery steps don’t seem to work so I just started again with arch.

Just a cautionary tale for arch based distros and their stability.

saddlebag ,

So expressive! That satisfied face in the last pic is ☺️

saddlebag ,

Tiling manager crew checking in (I use hyprland btw)

saddlebag ,

I adore them for their “wise old owl” face. Was an easy pick for me

saddlebag ,

Owls have the best scowls o/o. The black cowl with reddish eyes in the OP pic and the second picture here have it winning for me.

And thanks for doing this. Every can use a little more owls in their lives

saddlebag ,

When I first opened the post it was going for little but the first pic of the barking with those furrowed eyebrows won me over >}

Because its cool to hate Google on Lemmy

saddlebag ,

It sounds like the adjustment is a bit rough for you at the moment if you feel like 2 sentences became too long. Don't be so hard on yourself mate.

Becoming a dad is a shock to the system but one gets easier. I think more than one is relentless, there's just no break ever. And they act like force multipliers, they drive each other mad and amp up the intensity where 2 is more like 2.6.

saddlebag ,

You should try it out. I’ve got a 3080 desktop card. I’ve been running Linux as my only os for at least 4/5 years and I had a 970 before this. Barely had any issues with gaming or thermal throttling and it’s running in an SFFPC (Dan H2O).

saddlebag ,

I panicked for a second when I saw the title. I just renewed my subscription and thought they did something awful like sell to Kape

saddlebag ,

The port forwarding did come to mind. It doesn’t really affect me and I understand the reasoning behind it. I don’t think they it was against their goals. I also appreciate they recently moved to entirely in-memory runtimes so nothing ever gets written to disk. Sometimes good with the bad.

I’d consider proton but all these companies are sus so I just bought time with mullvad.

saddlebag ,

Can you elaborate on this? Which curves does it happen with? Is there some source that you’ve seen?

saddlebag ,

This looks absolutely incredible! Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow

saddlebag ,

I just finished Sekiro, worked flawlessly. Currently replaying Hades without issue. I’ve been gaming on PopOS with an 3080 for at least 18 months and its my only workstation. I don’t even have a dualboot to Windows

saddlebag ,

Lemmy definitely showing the same symptoms as Reddit as it grows. Too many people trying to show off how technically smart they are and just come off as obnoxious dweebs

saddlebag ,

This is one the best uses of irony (probably unintentional or trolling) I’ve ever seen. Thanks

saddlebag ,

I opened this post to double I wasn’t in /c/lsd

saddlebag ,

The ten seconds to read the first two paragraphs in the link reveal that they’re asking for more than 6%. This seems hardly outrageous given that inflation has consistently beaten that every year.

saddlebag ,

Can you provide a source? I can’t find that number quoted

saddlebag ,

Thanks for sharing. This confirms exactly what I said. They’ve received below inflation every year for 15 years. Now they’re asking for a huge rise to make up for it and the government is again standing on 6%. It’s sad that people are so against workers seeing their pay increase instead of being fucked over. I hope they get the 35% and this torrie government can get fucked.

saddlebag ,

Let the billionaires who have profited off the workers for decades foot the bill. Stop making excuses for this behaviour and stand by your working class brethren. Unless you’re a billionaire, then feel free to cough up.

saddlebag ,

I see that negative vote count has been removed and now the post just says “0”. We’re living in the thin-skin age.

Traefik tutorials?

I’m migrating my server to a new server and wanna try something new. I’ve been using nginx to reverse proxy my stuff and I recently heard about traefik being able to read labels off docker containers. I’ve been googling around but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the access to the dashboard without having...

saddlebag ,

Personally I’ve used traefik, Nginx and caddy. They’re all interesting in their own ways. My little docker setup is currently using caddy-docker-proxy. It’s been set and forget for me. You might need some adjustments based on your TLS requirements etc.

saddlebag ,

Buy yourself a white noise machine. I’ve been using one for almost 10 years, it’s helped my sleep routine immensely. I prefer it to something with talking because the fluctuations of something like comedy would disrupt me. Also, I think that concentrating on something like comedy makes me want to watch it and I would woke up.

The next thing is an eye mask. Even if your room is mostly dark, I’ve found it helps me to stay asleep.

Does the reddit style format breed toxicity?

Does the reddit style format inherently make for a toxic environment? Or is it a culture of toxicity from the influx of reditors? For lack of a beter example, on stackoverflow, when someone down votes you, it comes with a comment saying how to improve. On mastodon, people can’t downvote you. These platforms are a joy to use,...

saddlebag ,

I don’t see the poster explicitly complaining about getting downvoted. How I read it is that they think that downvoting encourages people to be negative and weaponise their downvote. And, given what you’ve said, they’re spot on and you inadvertently proved their point.

saddlebag ,

Reddit mentality crying about people talking about Reddit. This anger at people just using the internet was a huge problem there. You could have typed two sentences to help instead of typing two sentences to cry.

AND, this is literally No Stupid Questions. Feel free to let yourself out

saddlebag ,

I've been using Planka for a while. Very stable, does one job very well. No complaints so far.
