Duolingo is actively and nefariously designed around making you feel the need to open it.

Oh this is fantastic. It's definitely something that's been missing and been a conundrum in regards to figuring out how to sort it. Glad to see the PixelFed developer figured out how to do it.

I'm a big fan of the Fediverse and Lemmy in particular. Thanks to the Fediverse, but mostly Lemmy, I was able to build my home lab and now when I walk around my house, the lights come on by themselves. I love the conversions I get into. I love the open nature of Lemmy and how you can look at the repositories and watch how it grows.

There's definitely things that can be better and I'm happy to be on the train.

My only true desire is to see more people and communities distributed across more instances.

Ain't nobody want this

However, he also clarified that plans for this were not finalized yet, and if it were to happen, it would be optional for VLC users.

Happy to see some sanity prevails.

Having read the article, it sounds like the logical evolution of VLC. FAST Channels are here to stay and they actually are a vital thing in a world where Google have a monopoly on online video. While they're not what I would go for, I'm glad they're available as even my cable provider offers FAST channels.

Will be interesting to see VLC compete with JWPlayer and the various forks of it.

Also I don't think anyone disagrees that the core needs rewriting and the UI needs a refresh. Wonder when Android will start seeing these builds on the beta channel.

Invincible Divine Dragon’s Cultivation System ( www.novelupdates.com )

Started this ages ago and thought it was one of the worst things I had the pleasure of reading, but for some unknown reason, I didn't delete it. Anyway, after a few months I ended up coming back to it and persisted a little bit and then to my surprise, it started getting good. 900 chapters in and it's now actually enjoyable.

Out of curiosity, why isn't this stuff done by default?

What is good SoulSeek etiquette?

I'm new to Soulseek. Got my Nicotine+ docker set up w/ VPN through gluetun. I'm good to go. Port forwarding is working correctly and I'm sharing a little over 100GB of flacs that I have ripped personally with EAC and a couple people have downloaded some of my stuff, which is really cool. I don't have privileges rn....

The fact that you're sharing is already enough

Your frustration is palpable and that's disappointing. Lemmy has improved a lot since we all arrived while the software experience is a lot smoother, admins have been clamouring for moderation tools the whole time. Ultimately there needs to be more contribution to do everything that everyone wants, but moderation needs to be a higher priority for sure.

I will say this though. I know you dislike developers discussing, disagreeing or even arguing, but I actually think it's nice to see things in the open.

Whether you find happiness here or elsewhere in the fediverse, I wish you the best of success and not just because you host one of my communities 😂

This is a weird one. On the one hand, we have Mozilla, the last remaining browser company not sucking at the teat of either Google or Apple and we all expect for Mozilla to somehow generate enough money to pay enough employees to stay competitive on the other hand we have the users who expect them not to do anything to try and leverage their userbase to create financial independence.

The problem with Mozilla remains the same problem that they've had for a while. Mozilla doesn't acknowledge the symbiotic relationship it has with its community and the community always over reacts, which means there's a chasm where simple things should be easy but they're not.

Take this for example, Mozilla only had to have a public facing discussion about this and then go and do it anyway.

Sometimes paying lip service works. But since they didn't, you have people like OP who feel like something nefarious is happening and in the end Firefox users lose out as things like donations being pulled hurt.

Mozilla already shows ads, as do all the other browsers, however unlike the other browsers, you have a fully functioning uBlock that can and will remove anything that the preferences don't cover.

    What did you figure out?

You sound entitled as hell and most of your ideas read like stuff a project manager comes up with when trying to justify their job and I say that despite their being some good ideas in there. Anyway, it's Saturday night, surely there's better things to do than whine about the developers not implementing what you want?

    sabreW4K3 ,
    @sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf avatar

Honestly, I'm inebriated and so I have no doubt that I could've been a lot more fluffy in my approach. I also see at least one spelling mistake, so that's double bubble bad by me.

Since you're not OP, I can be unabashedly honest. Anyone that has been around open-source software knows that bug reporters are as unappreciated as they come, despite being a vital cog in the system, but holy hell, there's no stamp card, you don't say I submitted ten ideas, crown me king.

There's literally a monthly Q&A where the OP could have a broader discussion about priorities and direction. There's also a whole Github repository just for discussing ideas and direction, it's the RFC one.

Anyway, I'm going back to enjoying my Saturday night.

    Self Hosted IFTTT RSS Replacement

A couple of years ago, IFTTT did a thing where they asked people to sign up to premium and they could pay whatever they like and could keep the service forever. So, I tried to install this on my Raspberry Pi, only to find out it doesn't have ARM64 support, which is kind of alarming. It's a shame, but indicative of the lack of commits. I hope the project can find a new lease of life, but for now Huginn isn't a viable option for me at least.
