I used journalctl -k -f and this is the output, I've also tried dmesg and smartctl and replied with the output on other comments, and all show some kind of I/O error, I guess I'm fucked or can it be because of a bad cable or something?

Hey, it also has more features which was something I was looking for, too. Sadly it's proprietary, but well, it's better at least and it doesn't have such a strange name like this one.

Whats the purpose for usernames on signal?

Been using signal for years and love it and got the majority of my contacts on to it. My question is how are usernames useful now? You still need to register with a phone number with signal to limit spam and bots afaik and I'm assuming you should protect your username just like you do your phone number anyways because spam,...

I tried to read you in goofld faith but the moment you basically said the dev shouldn't be able to have a side project, or a life for that matter, because they should be working for you to get the feature you want is unforgivable. It is libre software, you are free to contribute and add it yourself. Value others' work, you entitled fuck.

You still need a terminal emulator capable of displaying images, though, right? Like Kitty, Allacrity won't do the trick.

So, yesterday I was trying to install Fedora on a PC with an Nvidia graphics card, it is a bit old and it has an Intel CPU. Basically as soon as I booted the USB it went all weird like if it would be having a graphical glitch like going all rainbow in some parts and stop responding, I tried a few more times under a UEFI secure...

That's my hardware

I honestly rather not install nouveau since iknow it can cause issues and i wouldnt mind installing nvidias proprietary drivers if it makes it work since its not even for me

do you know if i should install the 470xx or the one just called nvidia drivers in the app store?

ill give it a try to the rest tho, thanks!

What's the best way to have a .bashrc that I can use throughout systems?

So, I just found out about a programme called SynthShell which kind of does the work for you and gives you a nice looking shell, the thing is that this also creates some config files and other stuff in my system, instead of just one .bashrc file to edit. What would be the best way to learn to have a nice looking bash where I can...

I was using a similar guide, and it also talked about the locale.gen, but that file was never to be found, I just searched a bit more into that and this popped up. So it seems Fedora handles things differently, but now I'm unsure what commands to execute since I'm not sure the ones in that thread are also valid for me.

gary_host_laptop OP ,
@gary_host_laptop@lemmy.ml avatar

I think it's pure luck what font does your OS prefer, I was using Pop_OS and it defaulted to Japanese, but I think it's more common to default to Chinese because of the population size.

gary_host_laptop OP ,
@gary_host_laptop@lemmy.ml avatar

Well, in Firefox's settings there's an option to use my own fonts instead of the web site, so I don't think it's related to anything like that, but rather some setting within the OS, related to locale config files.

gary_host_laptop OP ,
@gary_host_laptop@lemmy.ml avatar

I was trying to do that but I'm unsure what to edit to do that, since most tutorials are using either a Debian based or Arch distro.

So, I would like to have a copy of this in maybe a .cbr or .pdf or whatever, but for it to also keep a little bit of its essence, like the background and also sometimes it has like parallel dimensions so right after one part it goes to another dimension so its hard to download, would it make more sense to save it as a website or...

Sometimes it’s more than one deep link, I think at some points it’s like, the alternative universe starts and it might go on for about 10 pages and then you can go back to the next page of the regular timeline.

Could be, she’s been kind of out of the loop for some time so I think that part might be a bit difficult, I think most of what she did was around the 2000s and 2010s.

I’m from Argentina, the prices we have now are absolutely ridiculous even with the LATAM USD, an Argentinian might have a monthly income of something around 250-350USD, and some games are something along the lines of 40USD even with the regional pricing, you need to add to that the fact that there is a tax on the dollar of 155%. I assume a normal person from the US earns something along the lines of 1500-3000USD a month, so it’s completely incomparable. To give you an idea, physical retro collectible games are cheaper than virtual ones.

They are dropping regional prices, before that you would pay in your regional currency which is far cheaper than paying in USD, plus, a lot of developers don’t care about those regional prices or don’t care to update them, in those cases you end up paying the same as you’d in the US. What in the US may be a sandwich in the third world can be a big portion of your income.
