My understanding is a number of Palestinians gathered over the rumors of aid being delivered. The IDF got nervous seeing so many in one location and shot the crowd. Numbers from yesterday were over 100 dead and 700+ wounded.

And these are the type of people we're trusting on more than just airplanes. This report should hit the desk of NASA like an anvil. Artemis depends on it.

I.Q. of a cucumber. What a dumbass. A dude even screams, "I don't need guns here I need a FIRE EXTINGUISHER!"

Braniac just keeps shifting his stance, repointing the thing as people try and help him.

Way to go little buddy. There'll be a monument built around you in the coming years.

Yeah if you watch the site for sales the Aeron can get decently cheap. Plus, consider that these chairs have a 10 year warranty, unlike the ones you pick up at an office supply store.

The Aeron really changed everything for me.

Seriously, why is the USA supporting Israel?

The US is supporting Israel through what we can mostly all agree is a genocide of the Gazans. Clearly, Biden isn't a genocidal maniac, yet he's all in with unwavering support. Why are we doing this? There has to be a logical reason that isn't just "we want Israel to kill everyone in Gaza and take their land a la lebensraum."...

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

Don't discount the fact that Israel supported us in every way when 9/11 happened. I firmly believe every favor is being called in at this point.

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

I suppose anyone that has any criticism whatsoever of Israel in any form is persona non grata these days.

The fact that Israel has put so much effort into changing US law to prevent anyone from claiming anything negative about Israel is a red flag that Israel needs negative things said.

I fully support the state of Israel and believe that the holocaust happened, and I will STILL call an asshat an asshat. Tough shit. Guess I'll cancel any vacation plans I ever planned in their country.

US conducts strikes against Houthi underwater vessel for the first time since Red Sea attacks began ( www.cnn.com )

The US on Saturday conducted strikes against Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles and vessels, including on the first unmanned underwater vessel the Iranian-backed rebel group has used since the attacks in the Red Sea began, according to US Central Command....

Why did we care that Taylor Swift was ATTENDING the super bowl

I don't follow sports nor care enough about pop music to really know what was going on. I truly though she would be performing with the sheer amount of press on the matter even here. What the hell did Republicans think she was going to do inside a luxury box other than have weirdos snap photos of her drinking beer?

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

From what I've seen on Lemmy at least, nobody really cared that she was attending but we had full popcorn bowls to watch the rest of the world lose their shit about it.

Heheh....I hate to break it to you, but it's not just old people who have nothing better to do than shit out racism misogyny and bile.

And I think this is how every new tech goes. I mean, the community here still seems much more civil because we're smaller in number.

My grandmother told me that if she could offer me one piece of advice it would be to stop worrying about the world, stop worrying about the future. If your thoughts are always there, they're never here and you just wake up one morning realizing how much time has disappeared.

She told me to just enjoy my life, every moment.

At the same time who cares more about their job, this guy or the guy who ran off to Cancun xD

It's almost like hearing a guy say he heard something from another guy is hearsay! Who knew??

I like women but I also like cock but I'm not otherwise attracted to the male body at all. Wtf is my sexual orientation? AITA?

I like women. I like the shape and curves of the female body. I like boobs, I like asses, I like pretty vaginas. I also appreciate and am aroused by a nice cock. I'm however not otherwise attracted to the male body. I like femboys as long as they have a feminine-like shape and curves, as many of them do....

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

Totally agree. I'm not sure why everyone focuses so hard on determining how many letters there are in their alphabet. 5 years from now it might be totally diff. It would be so refreshing if people simply said "Here's what floats my boat today"

For those not in the mood to read, saved you a click but thank you for the link @jordanlund!

The history of impeachment in the United States is important to understanding the Bill Clinton saga. The Founding Fathers wrote impeachment—originally a Roman political institution—into the constitution for the purpose of removing an official who had “rendered himself obnoxious,” in the words of Benjamin Franklin. Without impeachment, Franklin argued, citizens’ only recourse was assassination, which would leave the political official “not only deprived of his life but of the opportunity of vindicating his character.”

It would be best, Franklin argued, “to provide the Constitution for the regular punishment of the Executive when his misconduct should deserve it, and for his honorable acquittal when he should be justly accused.”

The bottom line here is that if anyone manages to eliminate prosecution for acts performed while they are president, expect the Punisher. In fact, while I don't normally support violence, I'd have to say it's a patriot's duty.

@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

No, and you wonder why presidents keep pressing to give themselves more executive authority. The screaming children in Congress who never learned how to share are about to give the American people one more nothing-sandwich, just like every meal we've been served for decades.

You remember that recent story about the fact that we can seemingly go to war without Congress' approval? Yeah, just imagine trying to get these twats to agree to do anything militarily. They'd still be arguing after the smoke cleared.

Do you all have any tips on activities to do yourself, instead of consuming content all the time?

I'm pretty sick of my content addiction, like watching youtube or netflix all the time. I would rather be spending my time otherwise so figured fun things are the best to start. Do you have tips for fun things to do? Or how I could search for them?...

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

The 'fun' adjective means everyone's answers will be different! For me, exercising is good even if many times it ends up being a VR adventure or workout.

I enjoy growing a small garden! You might not xD

Pick up some acting classes and volunteer down at the local theatre to learn more about yourself, your expression to others, learn the intricacies of a great classic story and make new friends!

Really, just pick something and go to the moon with it

Trump's obviously butthurt he wasn't cast in a Mad Max movie, so he's making the world a dystopian nightmare world that worships gas.

Now he just needs to eat the hearts of 10 virgins to de-age himself. That way he can ride around on his war-mobile with his shirt off so he can impress his idol, Putin.

Honestly one of the more interesting Hot Ones episodes and it's not because I don't like the others. I do.

Mr. Oliver simply said the things that I think a lot of us are thinking but aren't able to articulate as effectively. Just so happens that's what makes a talk show successful, yeah?

Top UK diplomat says Britain could recognize a Palestinian state before a peace deal with Israel ( www.pbs.org )

Britain’s top diplomat said Thursday that his country could officially recognize a Palestinian state after a cease-fire in Gaza without waiting for the outcome of what could be years-long talks between Israel and the Palestinians on a two-state solution....

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

Came here to say this. Imagine the backroom conversations going on in Parliament when the chickens came home to roost. I'm not saying they're wrong, btw, but it just seems wild that they were the one suggesting a Palestinian state when they carved out Israel back in the day and have done literally nothing to actually make it happen.

Cory Doctorow wants to wipe away enshittification of tech ( www.theregister.com )

Doctrow argues that nascent tech unionization (which we're closer to having now than ever before) combined with bipartisan fear (and consequent regulation) either directly or via agencies like the FTC and FCC can help to curb Big Tech's power, and the enshittification that it has wrought.

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

I think there ARE other ways to combat this, and the main one is ending activist investors that empower the Jack Welch pump and dump doctrine.

If someone wants to invest in something because they like it, they should be able to do that. What they should NOT be able to do is overwhelm a company they may or may not even like with dollars and then tell the company how to run its own business. If you don't like what a company is doing, you SELL YOUR STOCK.

It's this incessant worshiping of the shareholder that is step # 1 of enshittifcation.

Cancelled two weeks ago, and while it's too early for me to have a fully informed opinion, so far I've noticed that if you just hold items in your cart until you reach some kind of threshold (and I admittedly don't know what that is) you can get free shipping anyway.

It's almost like I was paying all that money just so I could one off order anything on a whim. I'm an adult, I can exercise impulse control and stick it to Amazon in some small way by doing it. Win/Win.

Talaraine ,
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

Hahah yeah water glassing is kind of a throwback that helps keep them even through temp variations. We did an experiment back when we had a homestead a few years ago, where we cleaned any nasties if there were any and then dipped the eggs in oil and kept them in a cool room.

We came back every three months to try an egg. We ended the experiment at 2 years after which 25% of them began to float. The rest were still edible but the yolk wouldn't stay together when cracked.

Military intelligence: Senior Russian officials were supposed to be on Il-76 flight but did not board ( kyivindependent.com )

High-ranking Russian officials were supposed to be on board the Il-76 aircraft that crashed in Belogorod Oblast on Jan. 24, but the Federal Security Service (FSB) did not allow them to board at "the last moment," Andrii Yusov, Ukraine's military intelligence spokesperson, told RFE/RL on Jan. 25....

Talaraine , (edited )
@Talaraine@kbin.social avatar

I dunno, I'm seeing this somewhat differently. Their 'claim' was that Ukraine shot down their own people.

This intelligence that they were going to have important targets who were originally going to board the plane hang back at the last moment gives a VERY different story, and that's why this is news.

What it says is that they decided to kill the POWs themselves and make it 'look' like Ukraine did it, so they stopped regular travel for their own people.
