art is better when it's made by a single passionate person than a committee of corporate art dumbasses that try to remove any component that could be offensive

it would actually be really hilarious if all the GenAI corpos sued each other and they all lost

we don't live in a perfect world though

Some people look at the community more than others, and so they get bored at repetitive memes very quickly.
Some people look at the community very infrequently, and so see the "new" jeans meme trend, and post their own.
The meme gets downvoted a shitton, but they don't see the downvote because they don't visit often.
As long as the trend is low effort enough to participate in, there are no repercussions from downvotes, and the amount of time different people spend here varies, this will continue happening.

That's why i think we should ban GenAI posts.

GenAI posts are dumb and unfunny anyway because people don't put effort into them.

sure it's funny if it's a shitty mspaint drawing of baked beans ~10m of effort
but GenAI images aren't very funny ~10s of effort

people put no thought into them and they come out bland

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

the taylor swift thing was funny when it was shittily done with mspaint or whatever though

safari is just konqueror with more steps and a bit worse though

and apps are a much better experience on mobile than web clients, and I don't see much reason to not use then when most of them are free software.

also web apps are bloated af and actively create ewaste. Lemmy's one's not too bad but Reddit, Microsoft, Google's sites make me want to do a skydive without a parachute

Infinity is the best one in my opinion

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

it'd be a bit different on uefi though

the arch wiki on grub is really good

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

if Asian users can speak for themselves, why do you speak for them?

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

i very much disagree.

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

i joined it back when shit and world were the new, small servers. I still can't believe shit got so big and world is now the biggest

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

most of their money is in stocks though, so it'll just create a power vacuum that'll be filled instantly

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

don't shit on my kde neon like that :(

kde neon doesn't come with snap packages, it only supports it so that the user can install snap apps if they want to.

it's a great distro and i highly recommend it

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

holy shit, it's not just 4 screws anymore?

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

that's a cool application, but how does it stack up privacy wise?

it says it doesn't collect any personally identifiable data, but aren't the location data and ip data enough to locate people?

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

oh yeah, i guess using Google location services is the same as sharing this with Mozilla or something, and Mozilla isn't Google

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

everyone knows, it's just disregarded most of the time because it's not a supported use case

New to Linux? Ubuntu Isn’t Your Only Option ( www.howtogeek.com )

Ubuntu's popularity often makes it the default choice for new Linux users. But there are tons of other Linux operating systems that deserve your attention. As such, I've highlighted some Ubuntu alternatives so you can choose based on your needs and requirements—because conformity is boring.

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

the de matters more for new users honestly, so I usually recommend:
gnome: ubuntu
kde: kde neon
cinnamon: mint
cosmic: pop

and just let them choose what they want

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

most installers for just works distros give you a recommended configuration that you can just click "yes" to

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

how would you implement it though? if you just make it directly based off the land area, you'll tax farmers and stuff unfairly, and if uou do it based on land area and population density, you'll encourage suburban sprawl

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

I don't think it's just right wingers, I've seen people that just regurgitate information in most social groups I've been in, including lefty communities.

Jumuta ,
@Jumuta@sh.itjust.works avatar

what makes you think it's impossible? it seems unlikely but I wouldn't say impossible
